Why the Hair Turns Grey

Grey hairs don’t have anything to do with amassing excess wisdom. Your hair is actually building up massive hydrogen peroxide when the hair turns grey. Hydrogen peroxide blocks the synthesis of melanin, the natural pigment of our hair.

Grey hairs usually develop with advancing age. As Gerald Weissmann, MD, puts it, ‘All of our hair cells make a tiny bit of hydrogen peroxide, but as we get older, this little bit becomes a lot’. So will grey hairs be qualified for transplantation?
